Break & Break! is Chou Su-Yi’s First dance video exhibition. The word "Break" carries the dual meanings of taking a rest and shattering or damaging, with a subtle connection existing between these different interpretations. The title "Useless Land" metaphorically represents the human state of physical uselessness, as well as the ruination of the land after struggling against the power of capital.

Between 2014 and 2017, the artist traveled through various old and new cities across Asia and both sides of the Strait. Moving from urban centers to the peripheries, he used his body to engage in dialogue with the present landscapes, whether useful or useless. More than a hundred video clips shot during this period were reassembled and compiled to form the artwork's vocabulary of dialogue with this space.

The premiere of Break & Break! Useless Land was chosen to be held at the Taipei art village "Polymer", sparking a dynamic and colliding dialogue with this abandoned space that is now resting and regenerating. The artist also performs live dances in response to the physical environment and the moving images, guiding the audience to transition from the physical body into the spatial dimensions within the videos. This allows viewers to experience the power of the body and dance language, as well as their presence and moments of dialogue in everyday life.
